The City of Mississauga has invited the Mississauga Friendship Association to participate in a community beautification project to improve Kariya Park. Two murals will be painted on the doors of the utility sheds featuring cherry blossom/garden motifs. The murals will be drawn by City staff onto the buildings and volunteers will use paint brushes, rollers and latex paint to complete the designs. No experience is necessary. Anyone interested should mark their calendar for Saturday, May 28 from 8:30am to 12:30pm. If you are interested in helping out, please let Stephanie know.
Doors Open 2015 was a great success! Thanks to everyone that made Doors Open such a great success! We had some great demonstrations by Kendo Mississauga and the City of Mississauga Shotokan Karate Club. A new addition this year was origami, old fashioned Japanese games and storytelling by the Mississauga Valley Teen Advisory Group (TAG). Thanks to Alene Sen and her volunteers for these great activities. We made $155 from our fundraising sale so thanks to everyone who donated. Finally thanks to all our members and volunteers who came out to support the event and help raise awareness of the MFA and the twinning between Mississauga and Japan.
