Natagtsura: Home Without Land

January 20, 2016

To kick off the first meeting of 2016, the Mississauga Friendship Association will meet on January 20, 2016 to screen the documentary film Nagatsura:Home without Land. The film will be shown at 7 pm in Committee Room A, at the Mississauga Civic Centre. The film highlights the uplifting story of local resident Kazuko Moghul. “Shot on location in Miyagi prefecture, Japan and Toronto, Canada, the documentary follows Kazuko Moghul’s journey as she reunites with her sister Yuko in the wake of the tsunami that destroyed their family’s town of Nagatsura. The two sisters travel together to find surviving friends and family members, returning to the wreckage of their home to do prayers for the dead and missing. Through their unshakable love for each other and their homeland, they spark a journey of hope and recovery for their extended family and community.” The meeting starts at 7pm. Following the screening Kazuko Moghul will be on hand to answer questions about her experience. Light refreshments will be provided.
