Stephanie Meeuwse, MFA Chair reiterated our successes in 2011 and Vice Chair, David Ray, gave a presentation about his four year teaching experience in Japan. Thanks to Jenny Chan and Haruko Cornish who have volunteered to join the Executive Board. They have already been very active in the MFA and they are a welcomed addition.

New Corporate Sponsor

The MFA is pleased to announce that G.N. Johnston Equipment has offered to provide a $2500 corporate sponsorship to support our initiatives. Johnston Equipment is located in Mississauga and is a Material Handling Solution company. They sell and rent equipment such as forklifts, lift trucks and industrial shelving as well as providing fleet management services and automated systems. Johnston Equipment is wholly owned by Raymond Corporation in the US and parent ownership by Toyota (TMHNA) whose Japanese head office is in Kariya. In the past, Johnston Equipment was extremely proud to host their owners, the Toyota brothers on a special visit to Mississauga. We think with Mississauga’s Kariya connection, this is a perfect fit and we offer a huge thank you to Mr. Marcotte, President & CEO and the staff at Johnston Equipment for their support. MFA Social

Mississauga Friendship Association members enjoyed a great social evening on February 28th. Haruko Cornish led a discussion on the differences in Japanese and Canadian culture and gave us some useful tips like “never open a person’s refrigerator”. We were pleased to see many new faces and catch up with long time members. Unfortunately, the sushi making had to be cancelled but we still enjoyed a small snack at the end of the night.

Just a friendly reminder that our next social meeting is our AGM on April 24th, Mississauga Civic Centre, Committee Room A, at 7pm. Please note that this room can be accessed from the underground parking by taking the parking elevator to the ground floor and then taking the elevator beside the Art Gallery of Mississauga to the second floor. Committee Room A is located through the doors to the right (from elevator) and at the far end of the hall. To access the Civic Centre from street level you must enter through the north entrance doors which are across from the Living Arts Centre. Underground parking is free after 6pm.
